Yosemite & Whitewater Rafting

17th May 2003 - 18th May 2003

The next day, 9 of us went to the Yosemite Trail Camp to raft on the Merced River. It was Edric's recommendation for whitewater rafting and he told us it was fun cos' he went last year. This time we went for the Class 3 (Intermediate level) but the 8 of us besides Edric were beginners! We all made it in the end and only one of our rafts (not mine =P) flipped throughout the whole journey.  The ride was expensive ($99 per person, after group discount) but it was well worth it! =)

Our starting point

One of the rafts!

The bus that took us to the start of our rafting trip

The area to get your wetsuits, helmets and life jackets

All geared up and ready to go!

Hmm, kinda scary to have an old bus driver who wears a helmet on a bus huh, hehe. Too bad I had to leave my camera on the bus and so no pictures of us rafting...

Group picture!

Here are the people in my raft and our raft guide Greg at the top. Me, Edric, Sherine, Haoning and her friend Adrain

People in the other raft - Vivian, Peiling, Xie Ke and Bao Lei

Peiling, Xie Ke, Bao Lei and their guide

Sherine, me and Edric

Other people coming up on dry land

We carried our raft up just like they did

Some pictures of the rapids we have gone through...

This was a big one! It was real challenging to pass through this one, we had to keep paddling strong while bobbing up and down and our guide shouting commands at the back

Other were quite choppy too and almost threw people off once or twice...

Some parts were relatively calm...

... and that was the end of the 16 mile river ride but we did take a lunch break halfway our journey

Time to go back for a much needed dinner, what another tiring day. =)
